STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Shall beresponsible for the care and custody of inmates detained at the NorfolkCounty Sheriff’s Office and Correctional Center or related programs.
Shall supervise inmates work details within the correctional centerfacility, ensuring that areas of responsibility are maintained in aclean, secure, and sanitary manner. Shall conduct searches of inmatesand areas within the facility for contraband in accordance withSheriff’s Office policy and procedures. Shall ensure and enforce thatthe inmate population adhere to the regulations. Correctional Center’srules and Shall prepare inmate disciplinary, informational and othersignificant reports as required by the Facility Shift Commander. Shalltransport prisoners to courts, hospitals or other institutions whilesecuring their safety and secure custody. Shall adhere to proper keycontrol procedures. Shall conduct accurate inmate head counts inaccordance with Sheriff’s Office policy and procedures. Shall beresponsible for making recommendations to the classification board oneach inmate assigned to his/her housing unit. Shall make recommendationsto superiors regarding Sheriff’s Office policy and procedure changes inaccordance with the chain of command. Shall be required to maintain andproperly document all facility logbooks. Shall conduct daily cellinspections to prevent contraband, security and sanitary violations.
Shall be familiar with and ensure compliance with all emergencycontingency plans: body alarm, escape, disorder, medical and fireemergency evacuation procedures. Shall assist and perform all otherduties as assigned by the Facility Shift Commander. The Sheriff ofNorfolk County reserves the right to add or delete from theseresponsibilities. Minimumage 21 High School Diploma or equivalent Honorable Discharge from theArmed Services (when applicable) Valid Drivers License Pass a drug andpsychological screening Pass a general and criminal background checkPass a written exam Pass a physical fitness test Demonstrate verbal,written and computer skills sufficient to effectively communicateProvide approved licensures (when applicable) Authorized to work in theUnited States NCSO is an Affirmative Action/ Equal Opportunity Employer.
