POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking dedicated and motivated Corrections Community Center Monitors to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of individuals transitioning back into society at the state-operated Philadelphia Community Corrections Center (CCC). If you are passionate about supporting re-entrants on their journey to successful reintegration back into their families and communities, this is the ideal opportunity for you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining daily activity logs, monitoring the behavior of re-entrants, and conducting searches for contraband in common areas. You will oversee the management and inventory of prescription medications, security equipment, tools, hazardous chemicals, and housekeeping supplies. Additionally, you will oversee the sign-in and sign-out register for both re-entrants and visitors, controlling their movement within the CCC. A key duty will be conducting orientations for new re-entrants, which involves reviewing DOC and CCC policies, rules, and regulations. You will provide information on available public services, assign rooms, and delegate tasks. Furthermore, you will observe and document re-entrants’ daily activities, issue misconducts, and attend disciplinary hearings. The ideal candidate will be attentive to the needs and concerns of the public and crime victims, responding effectively to address any issues or complaints.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Your work schedule will be determined.

Telework:

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,081.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

You must be able to work in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
You must successfully complete classroom training at the DOC Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)

Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
