Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate and direct the total administrative and programmatic activities of the facility. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement organizational and personnel actions in accordance with the Decision Analysis Table. Develop departmental budgets; monitor and control expenditures. Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting finance, food service, health services, maintenance, human resources, security, programs, classification and case management, education and recreation. Ensure each policy and procedure is reviewed annually. Coordinate with Regional Warden corrections on matters involving contract modification, future proposal preparation and negotiation. Review shift assignments for security staff to ensure all shifts are adequately staffed to meet requirements of facility procedures and post orders. Ensure proper number of custodial supervisors and officers for the security of inmate labor force on work assignments and/or residing in the main unit building; coordinate, plan, and direct placement of all personnel in the event of riots, escapes and other emergencies. Monitor staff selection process of potential employees to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, company policy and state regulations, and select qualified applicants to fill vacancies as needed. In conjunction with human resources manager and LaSalle Corrections corporate human resources, direct the imposition of staff disciplinary action according to LaSalle Corrections’ personnel policy and procedures. Direct preparation of work and other related reports on inmates for the classification committee and permanent record of inmates, showing progress and estimating rehabilitative prospects; direct inspections of living accommodations of inmates for proper sanitation, decide whether improvements are necessary and taking appropriate action where needed. Oversee the overall maintenance of buildings and permanent improvements of the facility; direct and approve requisitions, inventory and issuance of all facility supplies, material and equipment. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Required Knowledge Skills/Abilities:

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in correctional management, criminal justice, education, counseling, appropriate discipline or another related field; State jailers’ certification where applicable; Five years of administrative experience; Degree requirements may be considered by completion of a career development program that includes work related experience, training, or college credits at a level of achievement equivalent to the bachelor’s degree.

Long periods of continuous standing and walking per shift. Frequent periods of sitting. Repetitive climbing of stairs to reach the assigned areas and working at heights. Occasional kneeling, squatting, and bending to perform “pat” or “strip” searches. Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting. Occasionally responding to altercations and occasional restraining and securing assaultive offenders. Ability to respond rapidly to potential security and/or medical codes/issues. Frequent transferrers and transporting offenders by walking or riding in various vehicles such as vans, buses, and other forms of transportation. Continuous periods of operating/driving company vehicles to pick up and transport offenders for 4 hours or more per shift. Remaining awake and alert while on duty per shift. Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20-100 lbs. Ability to occasionally withstand direct or indirect exposure to OC spray. Ability to hear and understand verbal communication. Continuous sitting per shift. Ability to work continuously on a telephone/computer/scanner/fax/copier or other office equipment per shift. Frequent periods of walking and/or standing.

Salary Range:
