out of 5 stars Wake County, NC Description of Work This position is located in Raleigh, NC at the Enterprise License Tag Plant next to North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women . This is a first shift position. The primary purpose of this position is direct supervision and training of 2 Correction Enterprise Supervisor II’s, and indirect supervision of (61) female offenders engaged in the roller coating, oven baking cycle, embossing, blanking, packaging and warehousing of license plates and production of same. Employee ensures subordinates and offenders are thoroughly trained in safety procedures, equipment and documents training; ensures subordinates and offenders follow all standard operation procedures, OSHA regulations, DAC and NCCE policies and procedures, DOT and DMV license plate specifications, and directives from various vendors of raw materials and takes appropriate action when subordinates and/or offenders fail to adhere to such. Employee personally directs subordinates in the physical labor involved in performing various tasks in license plate manufacturing operation. Employee organizes daily assignments for subordinates and offenders as dictated by and in conjunction with Assistant Plant Manager. Position ascertains before beginning operations that all equipment is fully operational and safe. Employee ensures license plates are accurate and according to specifications at each point of production operation: blanking, embossing, tabling, roller coating, baking cycle, boxing, warehousing, etc. Employee ascertains each license plate is comprised of proper raw materials: metal reflective sheeting, ink color, style of envelope, box size, etc. Employee must maintain quality of license plates at all times in accordance with standard operating procedures, OSHA regulations, DAC and NCCE policies and procedures, DOT and DMV license plate specifications, and directives from various vendors of raw materials. Position is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Plant Manager and is at times required to fill-in for subordinates and/or their supervisor. When directed to do so, position must continue to fulfill own responsibilities and duties and at the same time assume part and/or all of the subordinates’ and/or their supervisors’ responsibilities and duties as deemed necessary by management. Since some responsibilities and duties over-lap, this position assists subordinates and/or the Assistant Plant Manger in several phases of daily operations of the License Tag Plant. This position is required at times to be part of a safety committee and to perform internal safety audits as dictated by management. Position may be required to work in other areas and/or plants as deemed necessary by management.

Selective Criteria:

Applicants must be eligible for certification through Criminal Justice Standards. This position requires certification through Criminal Justice Standards and will be responsible for offender security in addition to their supervisory duties. Offender security includes, perform searches of offenders (both clothed and unclothed), objects and places capable of concealing contraband, personal property, buildings and outdoor areas, engage in duties associated with escaped or fleeing offenders, conduct offender counts multiple times per shift, administer first aid and emergency procedures, utilize unarmed self-defense tactics, batons and emergency equipment, utilize firearms and proper restraint methods and techniques, counsel and work with offenders in a variety of assignments and custody levels, make quick, effective and reasonable decisions in emergencies and take the appropriate action. Work hours 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits Necessary Special Qualifications Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility. Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
