JOB SUMMARY
The Activities Specialist is responsible for providing activity services within assigned program.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS and
RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides activity services in groups and individually. Conducts activity assessments with individuals.
Clinical activities, occupational activities, pro social activities and relaxation activities in order to provide meaningful therapeutic environment for the program
Attends treatment team meetings as directed and participates in and documents treatment planning. Documents provision of activities services to individuals and their response to treatment. Organizes activities materials and equipment. Assists in inventory and shopping for activities supplies and materials. Prepares for groups and cleans up after supplies and equipment used.
Facilitates recreational activities. Attends specific in-services for staff development as directed.
Does operational office work (i.e., copies, filing) as it relates to activities therapy.
Facilitates group/individual activities as related to various activities. Develops all activities for the program and participates in discharge planning. Ability to effectively lead verbal and non-verbal group activities. Ability to accurately observe and describe human behavior with documentation and in meetings. Knowledge of group and individual activities beneficial for hospital psychiatric treatment. Good interpersonal and interaction skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School diploma required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field preferred
Minimum one year experience working with the target population
Must be Over the age of 21
Minimum of 5-years driving experience required
Possess a continuously valid US Driver’s license for the past three years, from date of issue required
Safe Driving record required
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
Completes all requirements according to Individual Training Plan within the first six months of hire and annually. Other training and/or professional development may be assigned due to evolution of programs.
