Starting Pay:
$21.39 hourly RTCC Specialist starting compensation may be negotiable based on education, knowledge, and experience.
General Description:
The Real Time Crime Center Specialist is responsible for providing real-time information and investigative support to law enforcement personnel in the field.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year of experience in a related field, law enforcement, intelligence analysis, data analysis preferred. Completion of basic crime analyst training (E.G. ANACAPA, IALEA, or FLEAT) and successful completion of the VSO Analyst Training within one (1) year of employment. Must maintain a valid Florida Drivers License. Must be able to work a twelve (12) hour shift, rotating between dayshift and nightshift, including holidays, and weekends, and mandatory overtime to meet operational needs. A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
Background Screening:
This position will require an extensive background investigation and drug screening.
Essential Functions:
Monitors the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) workstation, viewing multiple computer and camera screens. Receives, evaluates, and transmits information via telephone. computer, and multi-channel radio, involving emergencies and critical situations. Utilizes computer aided dispatch (CAD), ERMS, PowerBI, and other computer systems to analyze multiple data sets and recognize relevant intelligence. Maintains security of highly sensitive materials and information. Facilitates the detection of suspicious and criminal activity via camera feeds and relay information to responding law enforcement. Conducts queries of Criminal Justice databases, including but not limited to Driver’s License Queries, Vehicle Registration Queries, and Criminal History Queries to aid in ongoing criminal investigations. Researches relevant videos, and social media accounts to assist in criminal investigations. Prepares and distributes crime bulletins, briefings, alerts, and other reports as needed. Develops and maintains Geographic Information System (GIS) databases to create criminal activity tracking maps. Conducts basic crime analysis, including data collection, cleaning and preliminary analysis. Prepares basic crime reports and statistical summaries. Assists RTCC Technical Specialist and Crime Analyst with complex projects. Participates in training and professional development courses. Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. Must adhere to Federal, State, County, and local ordinances. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge:
VSO General Orders and procedures. Area of assignment, including trends and concerns. Research and report writing techniques. Florida Statues, Criminal methods of operations and crime analysis mapping. Fluent in Microsoft Software applications such as Word, Excel and Access. Operation of VSO RMS program and Volusia Sheriff CJIS Program.
