Job Summary:

Works directly with all primary and secondary victims including rape/sexual assault, family violence, and all other types of crime by educating victims, establishing personal goals, and advocating through the criminal justice system and other helping agencies. This position will collaborate daily with the Seneca Nation of Indian’s Crime Victims Unit for referrals and case collaboration for survivors of crime.

Education & Experience:

Associate degree in Human Services, or a related field; plus, relevant experience in direct client case work with children and families. Must possess or obtain certification in the Jacquelyn C. Campbell Danger Assessment within 90 days of employment with CCA. Must possess or obtain NYS Dept. of Health Rape Crisis Counselor Certification within 90 days of employment with CCA. Must successfully complete the mandatory 40-hour Victim Services Training and must document agency facilitated and on-going in-service trainings (related to victimization) for 10 additional hours per year. Must possess an awareness of the intersectionality of culture and poverty, as well as Acute, Chronic, Complex and Historical trauma. Must have a working knowledge of the Victim Services Division and the criminal justice system and issues and obstacles facing all victims of crime, sexual abuse, and family violence. Familiarity and knowledge of local service organizations, helping agencies and criminal justice system preferred. Must be familiar with Seneca Nation of Indians and possess an openness to engage with the Seneca community as well as, provide services to survivors in partnership with Seneca Nation officials, faculty, and staff. Ability and motivation to work independently and without direct supervision as well as in a team and with the public.

Other Requirements & Skills:

Must have valid driver’s license, insurability, and reliable transportation. Flexible work schedule and ability to occasionally work non-traditional work schedule to best meet the needs of clients. Ability to report daily to Seneca Nation’s Office located in Irving, NY. Ability and willingness to provide mobile services and advocate for client needs throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Erie Count communities. Must be able to interface with other social systems in a professional manner. Must have the ability to respond to hotline calls within 5 minutes and must be able to respond in person immediately (less than 60 minutes). Required to be on-call as primary responder during regular scheduled shift. Must have working knowledge of the Victim Services Division and issues and obstacles facing all victims of crime, sexual abuse and family violence. Ability and motivation to work independently and without direct supervision as well as in a team and with the public. Openness to learning new skills and technology as necessary; must participate in training as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct service to all primary and secondary victims of crime, including advocacy, transportation, shelter intake/discharge, emergency room and criminal justice accompaniment, etc. Promote the availability of NYS Office of Victim Services compensation assistance and will assist in helping victims in filing for compensation assistance, when appropriate. Respond to all hotline callsrequests during scheduled shift and on-call shift. Maintain records and compile reports on all victims and participate in staff/division meetings, case /team reviews, and training as required to improve the quality of the Victim services Division Develop individualized safety plans and goal plans with all victims one-on-one. Cross-trained and fluent in criminal and civil court eligibility and procedures. Act as back up for on-call advocates as needed. Plan, facilitate and maintain records for daily educational support groups with shelter-based clients Plan, provide transportation, facilitate and maintain records for weekly educational support groups Provide total case management for victims and their children by working with other helping agencies coordinating goal plans and services. Responsible for complying with all funding source regulations, for creating a safe environment, and to report any unsafe situations to the immediate supervisor. Must be enthusiastic about promoting the mission of CCA; be willing to work towards the good of the entire agency, and to act as an ambassador of CCA throughout the community.
