About the Position
This is law enforcement work conducted investigations for the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN). This is law enforcement work conducting investigations for either the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol or the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. Work involves the investigation of matters of a criminal nature initiated by the agency or upon request of other law enforcement organizations. Work may also provide security for high-ranking Mississippi governmental officials, their families, and visiting dignitaries. Within the Highway Safety Patrol, work includes investigation of criminal and non-criminal cases which involves interviewing witnesses, complainants, victims, and suspects. Within the Bureau of Narcotics, work involves enforcement of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act of 1971. Duties include conducting investigations of violations such as illicit possessions, manufacture, transportation, and sale of narcotics. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior. Each applicant must undergo an extensive interview, physical fitness assessment, background screening, polygraph drug screening, and psychological assessment. Although these are statewide agent positions, MBN would like to place agents in the vicinity of Gulfport, McComb, Hattiesburg, Meridian, Jackson, Starkville, Greenwood, Oxford, and Tupelo.
What you’ll need to be Successful
Public Service; Impartiality; Transparency; Integrity; great communication skills, wonderful people skills. Must successfully complete the MBN Agent Investigator School.
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications Education:

•Completion of two (2) years of college studies (sixty [60] hrs).

OR Education:

•Completion of one (1) year of college studies (thirty [30] hrs);

AND Experience:

•Two (2) years of satisfactory service as a law enforcement officer.

OR Education:

Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma);

AND Experience:

•Four (4) years of satisfactory service as a law enforcement officer;

AND Experience:

•Attainment of not less than twenty-one (21). •Excerpted from 41-29-107, Mississippi Code 1972 Annotated.

Certification, Licensure, or Registration:

Possession of a Mississippi law enforcement officer certificate within twelve (12) months of employment.

Applicant must attach a copy of his/her transcript and/or certificate to very completion of a Mississippi-certified law enforcement training academy.

Special Requirements:

Must be a citizen of the United States of America; Must successfully complete various examinations to determine mental, emotional, and physical ability to perform arduous and hazardous duties; Must be willing to sustain an extensive background investigation; Must be willing to undergo a polygraph examination; Must pass a medical examination; eyesight corrected to 20/20; no marked hearing loss; no overweight problems; no marked abnormal blood pressure; blood or urine samples will be taken for analysis.
