  • This Criminal Justice Specialist/Investigator III will serve as a Senior Intelligence Analyst within the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAAC) of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).

This position provides intelligence development and analysis and technical assistance in ongoing criminal investigations in support to federal, state and local law enforcement entities. Specifically, the Senior Intelligence Analyst receives, collects, collates, evaluates, analyzes and disseminates criminal justice information pertaining to criminal activity to provide investigative assistance and intelligence information to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. This position requires extensive knowledge of, and experience engaging in, the various roles of an analyst throughout the intelligence cycle. This position is the direct supervisor for several Criminal Justice Specialist/Investigator I and II positions.

Job responsibilities include the following:

Conduct and manage complex intelligence projects and assists in the development of tactical and strategic products that address the intelligence needs of ISAAC, the SBI, and other federal, state, local, tribal & territorial law enforcement partners.
Ensure direct reports have all necessary training, resources and equipment to perform their job functions successfully, while overseeing their performance in their role, and distributing workload on an equitable basis.
Regularly interact with executive staff, both internal and external, and will be required to present professionally on ISAAC initiatives and current topics relevant to partner agencies.
Review ISAAC, SBI, and daily analytical intelligence products to ensure accuracy, professionalism, and proper dissemination.
Assist with the development of training for section personnel, the SBI Academy, SBI Agent In-Service and specialized analytical schools both inside the state and with other outside professional law enforcement organizations upon request.
Work closely with the other Criminal Justice Specialist/Investigator III to perform all job functions and requirements.
Share supervision of all SBI Criminal Justice Specialist/Investigator I and II positions with the other Criminal Justice Specialist/Investigator III on staff and serve as an integral part of the ISAAC management team.
Be prepared to carry out the duties of the Criminal Justice Specialist/Investigator IV in their absence.

Demonstrated experience making inferences and deductions from a vast array of intelligence sources pertaining to criminal activities and organizations.
Demonstrated experience providing written and oral briefings, reports and training to law enforcement agencies and SBI management and personnel regarding criminal activity and active criminal investigations.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of all SBI administrative and operational functions, policies and procedures, and goals and objectives.
Ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others and establish and maintain effective work relationships in a team environment.
Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying and interpreting policies, procedures and administrative rules.
Must be a U.S. citizen due to security requirements for accessing SBI applications to which the person in this position must have access.
