of the New York State Retirement and Social Security Law, The Rockland County Office of the District Attorney is conducting a recruitment effort for the position of Assistant Director, Drug Task Force. We are canvassing to see if there are any interested non-retirees who would meet the minimum qualifications as outlined in the job description. is seeking a candidate to work in their narcotics unit. The work is specialized, diverse and can be complex in nature. This is management and supervisory work of a highly confidential and complex nature involving responsibility for assisting the Director, Drug Task Force, in the planning, implementation and ongoing supervision of a comprehensive undercover and specialized criminal investigation program carried out by the Rockland County Drug Task Force, including the conduct of field operations, and managing Crimes Against Revenue Program (CARP). The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director, and supervision is exercised over task force personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Rockland County District Attorney seeks an Assistant Director, Drug Task Force who shall have the following minimum qualifications: At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience that includes a minimum of three (3) years in an investigative capacity, with an emphasis in the area of felony drug related crime and related financial investigations and a minimum of seven (7) years in a supervisory capacity within a law enforcement agency. Possession of a bachelor’s degree or higher in a Criminal Justice related area, Accounting, or Finance. Experience providing testimony as an expert witness in the areas of felony crimes, including, but not limited to narcotic arrests and sales. Experience with investigations, particularly of illegal drugs, substances, and related crime, that included undercover operations, electronic surveillance, search warrants, arrests, and seizures and, in many instances investigations that involve multiple defendants. The required experience must have included all the following: At least (5) years’ experience involving all aspects of the management, administration, and oversight of law enforcement officers, including supervising criminal investigations, implementing training programs and developing case management protocols. Demonstrated proficiency in criminal investigations that include embezzlement, corruption, and other financial crimes. Demonstrated awareness and knowledge of the communities and cultures in Rockland County. Demonstrated awareness and knowledge of trends in the trafficking of illegal drugs and substances.

Other Requirements and Information:

Must be able to express ideas, policies, procedures, and directives effectively, both orally and in writing. Must have excellent computer, e-mail, and Internet skills. Must pass a police background investigation, including a drug screen. Must be certified by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) as a police officer and must qualify with a department issued weapon. Currently possess a valid New York State Driver’s license with no restrictions. A competitive civil service examination is not required for this position in the Exempt classification.
