The Fair Housing Investigator will perform a variety of duties relative to investigations, conciliation, and disposition of Fair Housing discrimination complaints in the state based upon the State South Carolina Human Affairs Law.
Responsibilities of the
Fair Housing Intake Investigator:
Timely Processing of all assigned cases to ensure final action is attained without delay to the investigator.
The extent to which the employee neatly, thoroughly, and accurately completes housing cases according to the established standards and quality. Case flies to be properly organized, alleged housing issues to be addressed and all information directly relevant to the alleged issues and which can be obtained through reasonable, professional diligence is included in files when submitted for review. All case must include an Investigative Plan. Investigator will verify disability and establish jurisdiction within 10 days of the start of the investigation. Notes will be updated in Teapots on a daily basis.
Under limited supervision, completes the investigation of 4-6 fair housing cases per month within 180 days from date of assignment. Maintains necessary knowledge of State and federal laws. Completes the assigned cased accurately and thoroughly according to established standards. Provides information, advice and assistance regarding individual’s rights, and general provisions and obligations to respondents, complainants, various groups and organizations. Upon request, provides advice and assistance to employers to ensure compliance with relevant laws.
The employee will conduct Fair Housing Outreach.
The investigator will participate in trainings, workshops, and meetings as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and relevant program experience. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant. Please note that some areas of the Agency may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring. Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.
