Job Description
School Lunch Monitor, Anticipated part-time appointment. Located at the Queensbury Middle School. Effective 9/1/25, 10 month position, Monday – Friday 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Starting salary:

$15.59 per hour, actual salary based on education and experience pursuant to the wage schedule posted on the district’s website. Job Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Experience is preferred, but not required.

Job Description:
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

this is work of ordinary difficulty involving responsibility for assisting teachers by performing assigned routine tasks including the supervision and care of children. Since there are definite limits on the type and complexity of assignments, the class of School Monitor differs in that respect from Teacher Aide, which usually involves duties of greater difficulty generally requiring specific skills or abilities.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

(Illustrative only)
Assists Teachers in supervising recreation and lunch periods and study halls;
Guides children throughout the school;
Maintains order in gymnasiums and cafeterias;
Oversees students passing between classes and in locker rooms and on premises before and after school;
May perform simple clerical duties under close supervision;
Provides social and emotional support to students in situations that require this;
Works collaboratively with the administrators to keep a safe and respectful environment.
Provides accommodations to students during testing duties;
All other duties as assigned by the administrator.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good general intelligence; ability to get along well with children and command their respect; clerical aptitude; neat personal appearance; familiarity with classroom routine; good powers of observation; tact; courtesy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

None required, but completion of a grade school course and experience with children is desirable.
