In your role, you help manage flooding, improve water quality, and maintain stormwater infrastructure through planning, design, and monitoring to ensure wildlife, the environment, and citizens have resilient and sustainable communities. Incorporate recent development projects into the County’s Record Watershed Model.
Coordinate with GIS Staff to maintain the County’s GIS database to be consistent with the Record Model.
Provide support for stormwater operations and maintenance projects activities.
Maintain floodplain delineations, and level of service, and assess alternatives to address problem areas.
Review site development permit applications for Land Development Services (LDS) and County capital improvement projects for consistency with the Unified Development Code (UDC) and Watershed model(s).
Provide written comments to LDS (using LIMS) or to the County project manager relative to any inconsistencies.

Technical Specialist I:

Starting Pay Range:

$55,000.00

• $65,000.00/ annually, based on experience. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
• OR•An equivalent combination of education and experience or technical, engineering-related project experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the degree.

Valid Florida driver’s license at the time of hire.

Technical Specialist II:

Starting Pay Range:

$63,000.00

• $73,000.00/ annually, based on experience. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related engineering field AND two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience.
• OR•a Master’s Degree in a related field AND one (1) year of professional civil engineering experience.
• OR•An equivalent combination of education and experience or technical, engineering-related project experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the degree.

Must be able to obtain a valid EIT (Engineer in Training) certification granted by the Florida Board of Engineers within twelve (12) months from the time of hire. Valid Florida driver’s license at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience or certified training with hydrodynamic modeling such as ICPR and ArcGIS (ArcMap).
Knowledge of Hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, and AutoCAD.
Prior related engineering work experience, engineering internship, or Engineer-in-Training certificate granted by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
