As a Permit Specialist, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including permit preparation and tracking, coordinating with regulatory agencies, supporting field teams, and ensuring all submissions meet project deadlines and compliance requirements. Requirements to Succeed To succeed in this role, you’ll need to have: At minimum, a bachelor’s degree in English or in a field related to Environmental Science. Exceptional technical writing and communication skills. Ability to present technical findings to regulatory bodies and clients. Basic understanding of federal, state and local environmental regulations and permits. Ability to read and interpret site plans. ArcGIS software experience. If this sounds like a fit, keep reading. Specific Experience Requirements To succeed as a Permit Specialist, you’ll need prior experience in this field. We’ll support your growth, but you should be prepared to: Develop and submit environmental permit applications and technical reports in compliance with regulations such as MEPA, the MA Wetlands Protection Act, Section 401/404, and Chapter 91. Maintain permitting schedules and track deadlines to ensure timely submissions and regulatory compliance. Communicate regularly with clients, regulators, and internal teams to gather information and provide project updates. Coordinate and present permitting documentation at regulatory meetings and public hearings in collaboration with project teams.
