Summary:
This onsite EHS&S leader will lead in the development and deployment of the Global Logistics (Distribution & Fulfillment) Center (GLC) EHS&S strategy, policies, and procedures and management of the onsite Wastewater System. This leader will ensure that the GLC is following & adhering to applicable Federal, State and local laws and fulfillment of all Baxter EHS&S objectives including providing guidance and expertise to ensure environmental compliance as it relates to the start-up and ongoing wastewater operations. This candidate will also possess a high degree of motivation, ability to communicate, influence, collaborate effectively with all levels of employees and demonstrate a willingness to be “hands-on,” learn rapidly, and make a positive impact.
What you’ll be doing:
Advance and manage EH&S compliance/programs with proactive, transparent and effective messaging in line with Baxter Corporate policies, State and Federal regulations.
Direct and monitor the facility regarding permits related to operations, including management of the onsite Wastewater Operation.
Facilitate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the attainment of the company’s goals relative to EH&S outcomes.
Assist in emergency response and preparedness and be available to respond to emergencies for two shift business operation.
Develop and maintain department goals according to EH&S KPIs (Action Plan Closure Rate, Hazard ID Rate, Recordable Rate, Major/Severe Incidents/events (SIFs), etc) that are measured throughout the organization.
Work independently to perform EH&S inspections, risk assessments, incident/injury root cause investigations and audits of the facility to ensure the closure of any identified corrective and preventive actions.
Manage onsite environmental and/or safety compliance with respect to Mississippi Water Pollution Control Law (POTW), CWA and federal, state and local permit effluent discharge limitations and monitoring requirements.
Performs necessary sampling, records and computes results from test data and maintains quality control records where required for EH&S matters including but not limited to wastewater operations.
Ensures site compliance with EHS&S regulations and Baxter requirements; analytical wastewater sampling requirements (pH & BOD), following emerging EH&S regulations and issues.
Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies for inspections, permits, and reporting.
Leads pollution prevention, waste management, recycling and minimization efforts.
Provides training to Baxter employees & on-site contractors on EHS&S topics with a particular focus on Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), Emergency Response and onboarding new employees.
Examine and review onsite environmental and stormwater inspections, in accordance with industry standards. (i.e., Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC).Facilitates integration of EHS&S aspects at the beginning of new/changing operations (MOC).Assists in the management of the workers’ compensation program including claims monitoring and administration, report generation, and communication with employees, managers, insurance carriers, medical staff for litigated/non-litigated claims.
Qualifications:

Must have deep knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations with a specific focus on wastewater operations and OSHA regulations.
Ability to respond to detailed inquiries, present information to groups and site leaders and work harmoniously with state regulatory bodies.
Must demonstrate the ability to drive and sustain EH&S performance, learn independently and understand operational equipment such as pumps, generators, valves, agitators and measuring control devices.
Must have chemical knowledge to extract wastewater samples; prepares and maintains associated control records; manage samples to external laboratory and ability to monitor pollutants.
Proven ability to develop and execute short and long-term strategic plans.
Exhibit working knowledge in warehouse/distribution environments.
Must have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to problem-solve and resolve technical challenges.
Must be able to flex schedule to accommodate training programs and investigations on off-shifts.
What you’ll bring:1. B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or related field required.2. Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in Environmental, Health and Safety fields with specific concentration in Federal and State environmental regulations (e.g. State of Mississippi & EPA).Candidates are preferred to hold a registered professional certification in the environmental or safety field (i.e. CHMM, CSP, or CIH)Physical Demands & Working EnvironmentThe physical requirements of this position are:

The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 – $143,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
