Job Summary:
FHI 360 seeks a Nutrition Technical Advisor II tosupport growth of the organization’s nutrition and food securityportfolio, expand the organization’s global thought leadership, andprovide technical support and oversight to a growing portfolio ofbilateral health and nutrition projects. The advisor will stayabreast of the latest technical developments and donor trends andrepresent FHI 360’s interests in donor forums, global norms settingbodies, and professional meetings. S/he will sit within FHI 360’sNutrition and Food Security Team, and collaborate closely with theorganization’s regional offices, enterprise services, and relevantsubsidiaries. This is a US-based position.
AccountabilitiesProgramDevelopment:
Collaborate with regional offices and otherdepartments to grow FHI 360’s nutrition portfolio and globalfootprint. Stay abreast of donor trends and identify opportunities forexpanding FHI 360’s nutrition portfolio at both country and globallevel Maintain and grow relationships with donor representatives,potential partners, and other key sector stakeholders Lead the design and development of nutrition and food securityproject proposals Contribute to development projects led by other divisions anddepartments where they include significant nutrition components
Program Quality:
Support start-up of new nutrition projects andprovide ongoing technical support and oversight to establishedbilateral projects. Identify project technical needs and ensure timely provision ofshort-term technical assistance either directly or throughconsultants, including provision of direct in-country support Support development of technical briefs and other knowledgeproducts, ensuring their technical quality and relevance Support development of donor reports and annual work plans andcollaborate closely with regional offices to ensure the quality andintegrity of donor submissions Facilitate networking and collaboration across projects andbetween HQ and Country-based staff
Thought Leadership:
Support thepositioning of FHI 360 as a thought leader in the field ofnutrition and food systems. Identify opportunities within existing projects to advance theevidence base and work with project staff and others to documentand disseminate findings Identify, develop, and secure funding to pursue strategic linesof inquiry with the aim of contributing to the peer-reviewedevidence base Ensure the quality and integrity of any related research andpublications Applied knowledge and skills Knowledge of best practices and evolving global evidence in thefield of nutrition and food systems Knowledge of the global nutrition donor environment, includingdetailed understanding USAID’s interests and investments innutrition Excellent communication skills, including demonstratedexpertise in technical and business development writing andpresentation skills Ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and planfor the successful implementation of activities Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to influence others of the importance of an idea orplan of action and to gain their support or commitment Competency in a second language preferred Education Master’s degree or its international equivalent in the field ofnutrition, public health, or a related field Project Management (PM) Certification preferred Experience 12+ years of relevant experience in the field of nutrition orpublic health Demonstrated experience engaging with governments, normativebodies, or committees at global, regional or national level aroundnutrition or related fields Demonstrated success in leading nutrition related businessdevelopment efforts. Experience in development of USAID projectsstrongly preferred Established networks and contacts within the global nutritionand public health field Direct implementation experience in low to middle incomecountries (LMIC) highly desired. Experience providing technicalsupport to LMIC required Typical Physical Demands Ability to spend long hours looking at a computer screen anddoing repetitive work on a keyboard Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Ability to move 5 – 25 lbs.
