05/28/2025 The Part Time Training Officer performs difficult protective service and responsible administrative work commanding fire suppression activities. Work involves coordinating and communicating regularly with staff regarding training initiatives; participating in and leading training exercises; making equipment purchasing recommendations; assisting with and carrying out personnel matters and disciplinary processes; developing reports; attending meetings; participating in and/or leading projects and events; and responding to emergency incidents to assist with command. Facilitates training to ensure consistency of delivery, content, and quality, alignment of training with department policies and procedures, and training safety. Training topics include, but not limited to, fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials, incident command, basic rescue, managing and leadership, and special operations. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Fire Field Technology or equivalent Ten years’ experience in the fire service Valid NC Class B driver’s license and good driving record NC Firefighter Certification NC Level II Fire Instructor NC Emergency Vehicle Driver Certification NC Driver Operator Certification NC Technical Rescuer Certification NC Hazardous Materials Operation Certification NC Fire Officer II Advanced NIMS Certifications (, 300, 400) Work Schedule Three days per week alternating based on shifts, 19 hours per week. Paid bi-weekly. Part-time position not exceeding 1000 hours worked per fiscal year. Closing Date Deadline to apply is May 28th at 11:59 pm .
