QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience High school diploma/GED. Licenses or Certifications State of Florida Certificate of Compliance-Firefighter II certification. State of Florida EMT or Paramedic. State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion. Must possess a State of Florida Fire Investigator or International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI•Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) or NAFI Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI), or obtain within twenty-four (24) months of hire or promotion. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
Meets physical ability requirements designated by the Cape Coral Fire Department. Key Responsibilities Consults with builders, owners, and contractors to identify potential problems or violations, discusses any necessary modification and/or changes required, and ensures corrective action is taken in assigned area. Inspects buildings and facilities under construction, alteration and/or repair for compliance with applicable code requirements and for safe application of construction practices in assigned area. Receives and investigates complaints related to fire hazard or code violations, makes recommendations, insures notification, and conducts re-inspections.
