Applicants selected to move through the hiring process can expect to go through an oral interview panel and a physical skills assessment. Following completion of the interview and skills assessment candidates will undergo a thorough background check process consisting of a physical health examination, drug testing, criminal background checks, driving history check, prior employment verification, reference checks, and professional certification & education verification. The job duties of a of Firefighter are highly demanding and require the candidate to remain up to date on their knowledge, skills, and abilities as they related to the fields of fire prevention and emergency medicine. Candidates in this position can expect a daily schedule consisting of responding to emergency situations and calls related to fire prevention or containment and emergency medical response, training to ensure service provided is following the latest procedures and guidelines are being followed, and equipment check to ensure every apparatus is ready to go at a moments notice. The Orange City Fire Department covers incorporated and unincorporated Orange City, as well as the City of DeBary, operating out of 3 Fire Stations. As Orange City is the fastest growing City in Volusia County, candidate can expect a fulfilling and rewarding work environment supporting a growing community. Starting Salary $45,951 + $11,000 Paramedic Incentive Pay•Based on 2912 annual hours worked Qualifications
Possession of a High School diploma or equivalency diploma
Florida state minimum standards certification as a Firefighter
Possession of a valid Florida Driver License
Certification as a Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic•For this recruitment process the City of Orange City is seeking candidates who currently possess Paramedic certification or are currently enrolled in minimum standard training as a Paramedic. Candidates who only hold EMT certification or are not currently enroll in minimum standard training as a Paramedic may not be considered. Our Benefits
