Job Description
SHE ERT Operator 2.4 2.4 out of 5 stars Commerce, GA 30529 Job Profile Summary The SKBA Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Emergency Response Team (ERT) Team Member works by following standard procedures under the direction of the SHE Response Team Manager and Supervisors. SHE Response Team members respond to emergency and non-emergency requests within SK Battery America. These events can include the potential for fire suppression, hazardous material mitigation, technical rescue, water and contamination removal and medical emergencies. These emergency events can range from incipient levels to the potential for IDLH environments. The daily duties of SHE Response Team Members include but are not limited to conducting apparatus and equipment inspections, SHE Response Team training, facility alarm mitigation, fire suppression sprinkler repairs, hazard assessments and preplanning, facility fire prevention and safety inspections, safety classes, permitted work inspections, and assisting with site-specific environmental measurements. Responsibilities may also include creating fire and rescue pre-plans, accident investigations, records management, inventory control, forklift operations and developing emergency response and safety procedures.
Role and Responsibilities:
Daily Responsibilities Check the safety and status of immediate work area. Check the status of daily schedules and orders. Training Conduct basic emergency response and fire prevention training for employees. This may include (but not limited to) fire extinguisher use, First Aid/CPR/AED & blood borne pathogens . Participate in basic training for Emergency Response Team personnel. Conduct and participate in various scenario-based drills under the direction of the ERT Supervisor or Team Leader. Must pursue Team Member Level 2 qualification and be on track to achieve within 24 months of employment. These include Fire Extinguisher (NFPA 10), Hot Work (NFPA 51-B), Confined Space (NFPA 350), Lock Out-Tag Out (NFPA 70E), PIT (1910.178), and Fall Protection (1910.30). This is required for promotion to Senior Team Member. Emergency Response Respond to facility emergencies that may include fire, hazardous materials, medical, and/or confined space incidents. Maintain emergency response pre-plans (fire, confined space / rope rescue, hazardous materials, etc.). Enacts emergency response plans and general operating guidelines. Safely drive and operate emergency response apparatus. Inspections Emergency response apparatus and equipment inspection and maintenance. Facility life safety equipment inspection and maintenance. Fire prevention audits and inspections. Fire alarm and suppression systems inspection and maintenance.
Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. 1 to 3 years of municipal or industrial fire and emergency services. Previous experience in manufacturing or heavy industry preferred. Must be able to read and understand instructions in English. Must have a basic understanding of emergency radio communications. Excellent communication with co-workers both verbally and with good written skills. Basic skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Physical / Mental
Must be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including safety shoes, respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, structural firefighting ensemble – including SCBA, SAR, fall arrest / technical rescue harness, chemical protective clothing, and other emergency services PPE. Able to consistently and safely lift, 50lbs, climb stairs/ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend, crawl, kneel, push and pull, perform repetitive tasks, and work in both hot and cold environments.
Qualifications / Certifications
/ Licenses Required NPQ Fire Fighter I & II or equivalent. Hazardous Materials Operations. EMR or higher preferred. Technical Rescue / Rope Rescue I/II preferred.
ICS/NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.
Pro Board FF 1 Hazmat Ops.
EMT / BLS. C.P.R. A.E.D. ICS 100, 200, 700, 800.
