Airport Firefighter Series (Airport Firefighter – Driver Operator/Sgt.) Augusta-Richmond County – 3.8 Augusta, GA Job Details Full-time $46,662.00 – $50,069.10 a year 6 days ago Qualifications Mid-level Under 1 year Full Job Description JOB Provides firefighting operations and emergency medical services under the supervision of ARFF Shift Supervisor and or Sergeant. Operates specialized Aircraft Rescue and fire fighting vehicle and equipment, and structural fire fighting vehicle and equipment. Performs fire inspections on airport facilities, flight line and hand-held fire extinguisher, and fire hydrants, cleaning and maintenance of fire department facilities and grounds as part of a firefighting crew. Responds as a member of aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) team to Aircraft Fire Emergency, Structural Fire, Hazardous Material Spill, and Medical Emergency or special rescue situations dispatched to Augusta Regional Airport Fire Department.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responds to commercial, civilian or military aircraft emergencies at Augusta Regional Airport as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting crew. Responds to all emergencies at Augusta Regional Airport.
Assist in the inspections of airport facilities, hangers, extinguishers and fire hydrants.
Maintains ARFF, structural firefighting equipment, and fire station cleanliness.
Attends and successfully completes the required in-service and formal training courses related to firefighting techniques and EMT. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of firefighting safety practices and procedures.
Ability as a team member to operate and maintain airfield crash fire fighting vehicles, rescue vehicles and related vehicles. Ability to use and maintain self-contained breathing apparatus, power and non-powered tools and equipment.
Knowledge of fire suppression techniques.
Ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action.
Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and picture form.
Ability to interpret extensive variety of material in books, journals, and manuals, Comprehend and record figures accurately.
Ability to complete routine forms and maintain accurate records, understand advisory circulars and verbal instructions, technical in nature.
Ability to communicate with air traffic control using accepted radio communication procedures to navigate on runway, taxiway and parking.
Physical Abilities:
Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials. Possess or have the ability to meet current health and fitness requirements set forth by
NFPA 1582.
Ability to pass the Georgia Certified Firefighters Physical Agilities Test with seven minutes or less.

Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, fumes, smoke, temperatures and noise extremes, hazardous materials, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, traffic hazards, bright and dim lights, toxic agents, animal and wildlife attacks, animal and human bites, explosives or rude and irate customers.
Other:
Position requires staff call up in an emergency situation.
Travel from office to other locations is required of this position.
