Job Description
Firefighter Zebulon, NC Zebulon, NC 27597 Under general supervision of the Fire Captain, responds to fire and medical emergencies and other requests for service, performs fire prevention, maintains fire station and equipment, performs office work, and all other duties as requested by the supervisor.

$51,858.07 – $74,253 Detailed Work Activities Duties and Tasks Maintains a readiness for, and responds to, reports of emergencies, which include fires, emergency medical calls, technical rescue incidents, hazardous materials, and other situations that may present hazards or harm to people or property. Inspects, maintains and makes minor repairs to apparatus, equipment and vehicles. Performs station maintenance duties including storing equipment, cleaning and maintaining the grounds. Conducts pre-incident surveys. Performs annual maintenance and testing of fire hydrants, hoses and other equipment and vehicles as required. Participates in physical fitness, training sessions, and maintains required certifications. Assists with the completion of incident reports. Represents the department at special events including but not limited to parades, open houses, station tours, educational activities and community presentations. Performs other duties as required. Child Safety Seat Technician Certification Physical Requirements An employee must be physically able to be cleared for self-contained breathing apparatus/respirator use and to be able to perform the essential firefighter duties as defined in NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1582, OSHA 1910.156, and
OSHA 1920.134.
Work could have frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions, exposure to atmospheric conditions, hazardous materials, environmental conditions and extreme weather conditions. Background check meeting the requirements of N.C. General Statutes for a firefighter. Must be able to effectively operate on a 24-hour, rotating shift.
