Loss Mitigation Specialist –

Impounds Location:

Spartanburg, SC, United States Description Summary/Objective
The Loss Mitigation Specialist – Impounds will research accounts and identify opportunities for possible recovery; ensuring proper handling of all collateral to include negotiating with impound lots for its release and assignment of repossession agents to secure them.
Essential Functions

Monitor email notices of repossession of unit (vehicle, boat, recreational vehicle, and/or trailer) received from the Servicing department and determine initiation of repossession processes based on established policies and procedures
Responsible for skip tracing and positive resolution through recovery efforts
Assign third party agency to repossess unit from 3rd parties and monitor to ensure compliance with repossession procedures
Generate and mail Notice of Intent (NOI) and/or Notice of Repossession (NOR) letters to consumers advising of repossessed unit’s status
Monitor agent updates for new information and redirect newly found information to appropriate parties
Manage assignments to ensure proper agent coverage based on urgency of situation
Negotiate the economical release of impounded or stored vehicles
Timely response to impound notices to ensure resolution is achieved as quickly as possible
Request and collate all required documentation necessary for supervisor review and approval
Review damage and determine value of vehicles properly to ensure retrieving vehicle is appropriate for vehicle condition, age, market factors, etc. Other tasks as assigned Qualifications
Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations
A minimum of two years related experience including collections, bankruptcy, repossession or associated legal proceedings or equivalent education and experience Must have excellent organization and communication skills Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates fully onsite in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with schedule variations based on business need. Travel
