It involves collecting, organizing, retrieving and interpreting sensitive information, typing, computer operation and maintenance of various records and files.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions:
Responsibilities require consistent attention and commitment to the agency’s mission. All assigned duties and tasks are expected to be performed in an effective, efficient and safe manner. The Records Customer Service Clerk I is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Customer Service window and includes but is not limited to: Greet and handle all request at the windowMail out requests of crash reports, incident reports, arrest affidavits, premise histories, etc.
Answering and responding to phone calls of varying natureEntering non-UCR reports into the Records Management System When not handling major and subordinate duties, jobholder is expected to use their self-directed work time in an efficient manner. This means self-initiating performance on priority performance tasks assigned by command personnel. The jobholder is expected to accept the responsibility for knowing his or her routine job assignments and performing them without continuous direction. If, due to an occasional work backlog of another member, and incumbent’s major and subordinate duties are caught up, jobholder is expected to voluntarily render assistance to rectify the backlog of the other member. The Records Customer Service Clerk I shall also perform such other duties as may be assigned by superiors.
Additional Duties:
Assist with fingerprinting both manually and electronically for the purpose of identification and criminal background checks Process local background checks and all mail requests from the public, insurance companies, other law enforcement agencies, and government agencies. Make sure reports are reviewed and redacted correctly to hand out per the law and statutes Answer all incoming records phone calls and assist as necessary Process background checks for DCF, FBI, FDLE, the armed forces, and the general public Recognize UCR entry reports from non-UCR entry reports to ensure proper coding Make reports ready expediently for our agency requests, detectives, deputies, as well as various other offices, such as the State Attorney, Probation and Parole, Clerks office and other law enforcement agencies Research, correct, and log off every report and ensure that they are filed Enter all crash reports Order supplies Handle all money and make weekly deposits Process archive requests and keep a log book Transport files to and from the archives location Act as back-up for receptionist as needed
