PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITY
This is an administrative position with responsibility for the oversight of the Corporation’s legal affairs. The Associate Counsel provides legal advice to staff and officers to ensure that the Corporation’s activities meet with legal requirements applicable to the organization. The Associate Counsel also advocates for public policy matters of interest to the Corporation and its target populations and participates in development of community programs.

Provide legal advice and representation for the corporation and its officers and employees. 2. Represent the organization at statewide, and local community meetings. 3. Supervise the Court Liaison team, including management of court division coverage. 4. Act as liaison with the Department of Children and Families Office of Child Welfare, as well as contracted providers on matters related to full case management services. 5. Review and staff cases for upcoming hearings to ensure that Court Liaison and case management staff are well prepared. 6. Appears in court, depositions and staffings as needed for management of the Court Liaisons and in response to judicial inquiries, including civil and criminal contempt matters. 7. Review court documentation for accuracy and timeliness. 8. Be familiar with all applicable statutes and rules regarding dependency. 9. Review and monitor subcontractor performance as it relates to court activities and documentation. 10. In partnership with the QI team, develop and maintain a Quality Improvement review of court-related outcomes. 11. Serve as the primary point of contact with local Attorney Ad Litem organizations, Guardian Ad Litem program, and DCF Children Legal Services, regarding all dependency cases. 12. Assist in drafting proposed legislation and rule changes that impact the organization and its clients. 13. Review court filings and subpoenas for Citrus records or staff appearances. 14. Advise staff regarding any changes in Legislation or Administrative Code impacting the organization or other Citrus activities. 15. Respond to public information and other record requests, coordinate the retrieval of information and address questions or problems as necessary. 16. Assist with redaction of records, and prepares appropriate responses to requestors. 17. Assist with maintaining a comprehensive records retention program. 18. Have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the Florida Public Records Act. 19. Ensure compliance with Sunshine Law, Chapter 409 and other Florida Statutes. 20. Assist in the review and development of corporate policies and procedures. 21. Performs other duties, as necessary and/or assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Juris Doctor Degree Admitted to the Florida Bar and eligible to practice law in the State of Florida Ability to draft and write documents in English well.
Preferred:
experience and knowledge in juvenile and dependency matters, Administrative law, Non-Profit Corporations and Employment law. Possess a current Background Clearance Screening as required by
