Job #1011-1 Closes June 27, 2025 Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. Rowan County government is made up of more than 20 departments and nearly 1,250 employees that are committed to providing a wealth of services to County residents and businesses. The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Child Support Agent I. This position will perform intake services including interviewing clients applying for child support, contacting others, researching and obtaining information through various means, provides location services including investigating and gathering of information; contacting parents, members of the legal profession, Department of Socials Services staff, and other public entities; research in various databases; and follow-up through phone calls/letters including; but not limited to: defining problems and evaluating and processing data in a timely manner facilitating case initiation, file preparation and file maintenance. Identifying and correcting various interface demographic errors between ACTS and NCFAST without direct supervision and interviewing clients applying for child support, contacting other divisions and agencies (Medicaid, Food Stamps, Children Services, Clerk of Court, Attorneys, and other Child Support Agencies), research, and gathering needed information to process application (identification documentation, employment and health insurance verification, daycare vouchers/receipts, and legal documents). Requires ability to conduct interviews with custodial parents, non-custodial parents, and other relevant sources, ability to thoroughly research cases and meaningfully organize the information gathered, proficient in organizing, analyzing, and summarizing case information, and effectively communicating both orally and in writing, basic knowledge of Child Support Services and applicable legal procedures and ability to interact successfully with custodial and non-custodial parents, as well as a variety of internal and external partners. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree; an Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Paralegal Technology, or related curriculum and one year of paraprofessional, clerical, or public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and / or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks. Degree/Coursework must be from an appropriately accredited institution. A valid driver’s license is required. Starting Salary $44,900 – $49,300 (commensurate with experience) and excellent benefits package available. Apply online at .
