Position Information
This position is assigned to the Adult Detention Center and is for supervising inmate workers performing custodial duties, however, this position could be required to perform the duties in the absence of inmate workers All training uniforms and equipment for the job will be provided Employees of the Adult Detention Center are eligible for an additional $130 per hour Detention Pay as well as access to free parking and staff dining for free meals during their work shifts Shift differential pay is also available if working an eligible shift Essential Functions
Supervises the work of inmates assigned to work detail: conducts roll calls; escorts inmates to area of assignment such as food service, laundry, and custodial operations; ensures that work is carried out safely and security is maintained; communicates to inmate workers the scheduling of daily duties and expectations; and trains workers in job functions as necessary
May lead the workers in completing general custodial duties: cleaning and sanitizing showers; cleaning and sanitizing toilets; sweeping/mopping floors; emptying trash; cleaning staff and infirmary areas; and other areas as assigned
May lead workers in providing food service: oversees line preparation of regular meals and special diets; supervises food delivery; ensures temperature and quality of food; supervises kitchen cleaning after meals; and oversees the collecting and cleaning of food trays
May lead workers assigned to daily laundry exchange: supervises the exchanging of dirty uniforms, towels, underwear and socks on daily basis; and maintains documentation of exchanges and issues that may arise
Maintains inventory needs for area assignment: ensures proper working order of required equipment; maintains appropriate levels of cleaning supplies; prepares requests for needed equipment or supplies; and writes maintenance reports for maintenance/repair needs
Assist with doing laundry
Uses and monitors appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by six months of experience in custodial services
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the regular and sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds)
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally
