JOB SUMMARY
Serves as the Director of School Safety/Chief of Police for the Crawford County School District (CCSD). Plans, coordinates and oversees all measures employed to ensure the safety and security of administration, faculty, staff, students and visitors at all CCSD primary, elementary and secondary schools. Coordinates with local, state and federal emergency services agencies providing services to the school district.

Serves as Chief of the Board of Education Police Department Under the direction of the Superintendent, leads, develops, and implements a state-mandated Safety and Security planto ensure the safety and security of the school district’s students, administrators, faculty, staff and visitors Ensures the implementation of all board policies and administrative procedures/plans related to safety Plans and implements programs and activities that reduce the opportunity for school violence Acts as liaison between the sheriff’s office and city police department to keep schools safe Coordinates with administratorsduring emergency and safety drills Conducts safety and security assessments/audits, and patrols district facilities on a regular basis Coordinates security for special and athletic events for the district Assists school administrators with investigations , as assigned Participates in professional growth opportunities Responds to public/parent concerns regarding safety and security and law enforcement issues Serves as liaison between the district and local, state, and federal emergency response units/personnel Directs the school safety training of all district employees Assumes command of police related incidents or works with public agencies to establish unified command for serious critical incidents on school property Coordinates physical vulnerability security assessments at each school building and works with other staff to coordinate a daily and weekly security check process — ensures the process is followed Remains available for emergency responses and works variable hours Coordinates and supervises security at all Board of Education Meetings and/or district events Informs the Superintendent of security concerns and/or emergency situations Serves as an SRO Maintains strict confidentiality of student and staff information that falls under protected classifications as according to state and federal law Maintains prompt and regular attendance Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee, which falls within the scope of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field AND a minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement experience that includes at least two (2) years of executive law enforcement management experience, OR Combination of post-secondary education in Criminal Justice AND a minimum of ten (10) years of law enforcement experience that includes at least five (5) years of executive law enforcement management experience Active Georgia P.O.S.T Certified Police Officer
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree or higher Graduate of the Command College or the FBI National Academy
NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB
Knowledge of law enforcement administration, school procedures and protocols, and criminal justice systems Knowledge of emergency management and incident command principles and applications Knowledge of school law and school codes of conduct Knowledge of best practices in various aspects of school safety and the ability to implement best practices, policies, and procedures with the school system Skill in public speaking and public relations Skill in planning, organizing and decision-making Skill in the use of firearms, less-lethal use of force options, and restraint equipment and techniques Skill in interpersonal relationships •Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to maintain emotional control under stress Ability to be regularly, predictably and reliably at work Ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities Ability to relate to and work with adults and students in a positive manner Ability to maintain confidentiality

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS 1.
