Job Description

Chief of Police City of Warm Springs Warm Springs, GA 31830 The City of Warm Springs is now accepting applications for the Police Chief position. The Police Chief will serve as the head of the Warm Springs Police Department, responsible for overseeing all police operations, ensuring the safety and security of the community, and maintaining public order. This is a working-chief position which requires the Chief to be actively involved in day-to-day policing activities, emergency on-call, as well as administrative and leadership responsibilities.

Duties Leadership and Management:

Oversee and direct the activities of the police department, including patrol, investigations, and community relations. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective police operations. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate police personnel, fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Operational Duties:

Participate in regular patrols, respond to emergency calls, and assist in crime scene investigations as needed. Ensure the enforcement of laws, ordinances, and regulations within the jurisdiction. Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies and emergency services to provide comprehensive public safety services.

Community Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local businesses, and civic organizations. Develop and implement community policing strategies to enhance public trust and cooperation. Address community concerns and work proactively to solve public safety issues.

Administrative Duties:

Prepare and manage the department’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource allocation. Maintain accurate records and reports, including crime statistics and departmental activities. Oversee training and professional development programs for department personnel.

Policy and Compliance:

Ensure the department complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Implement and enforce policies related to ethics, use of force, and other critical areas. Conduct internal investigations and take appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.

Emergency Response:

Serve as the primary incident commander during major emergencies and critical incidents. Develop and maintain emergency response plans and protocols. Coordinate disaster response and recovery efforts with other agencies.
