Quality Auditor (Sheriff) 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 201 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103 Position Summary Works independently to monitor and evaluate the Administrative, Jail, and Law Enforcement divisions of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the division’s operations and their consistency with operating procedures, laws or statutes (county, state or federal), court orders, duty post assignments, classifications, and administrative practices.
Pay Grade:
51 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications 1. Four (4) years of experience in an Internal Auditing or Project Lead capacity; AND 2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, criminal justice, auditing, finance or a closely related field; OR 3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience. 4. CIA, CFE, CICA, CPA, or associated credentials preferred. 5.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assesses risks for the Sheriff to evaluate the effectiveness and adequacy of the Department’s operational controls. 2. Reviews and audits existing systems to ensure compliance with policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations. 3. Analyzes various law enforcement organizations in detail to identify best practices. 4. Offers recommendations and solutions that will enable the employees to perform optimally. 5. Generates objective reports of findings through observation, analysis, interviews, investigation, etc., including justifications and recommendations for compliance. 6. Observes the inside of the jail with corrections deputies or in the field with law enforcement deputies. 7. Reports the results, recommendations, and dispositions of audit findings to the Audit Executive Committee and follows up to ensure adequate corrective action is taken and is effective. 8. Collaborates with the Shelby County Sheriff and executive staff to determine the ultimate outcome of the audit recommendations. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned. KSAs 1. Extensive knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methodology of internal audit programs and practices. 2. Practical knowledge and skill in interpreting, explaining, developing and applying procedures. 3. Substantial skill in applying analytical and problem-solving methods. 4. Thorough knowledge and skill to analyze facts, identify problems, make conclusions, and recommend or take appropriate action. 5. Thorough knowledge of organization, financial (including budgeting, accounting, and auditing), purchasing and personnel management techniques. 6. Ability to communicate orally and through the written word. Strong writing skills are required along with the ability to work amiably and professionally with all. 7. Investigative and interrogation skills are crucial. Special Requirements Must be able to work in a jail-secured environment.
