Position Summary
The Police Officer is primarily responsible for providing the safety and well-being of the faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The Police Officer is responsible for providing a secure environment through crime prevention and control, criminal investigation, traffic and parking supervision, disaster coordination, maintenance of public order, and other related services.
Salary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide foot and vehicular patrol of the campus. Respond to and investigate all incidents on campus, including but not limited to motor vehicle accidents or criminal or college violations.
Conductplex misdemeanor and or felony investigations, including but not limited to interviewing victims, suspects, and offenders, preparing photo lineups, collecting evidence, and preparing case files. Provide security to the collegemunity, as requested, including but not limited to escorting personnel to vehicles late at night or acting as a witness at meetings involving potentially irate personnel or students. Enforce criminal and traffic laws, making arrests and issuing summons as required.
Issue tickets for parking violations.
Complete clear and precise written officer reports immediately following an incident.
Monitor authorized student activities for adnce to college policies.
Secure college property, lock and unlock doors, and check buildings and hallways, including when monitoring after-hours for unusual activity. Make electronic emergency notifications to the campusmunity.
Detect and report hazardous conditions, including but not limited to potholes, light outages, obstructions, etc., and inspect all assigned areas for safety hazards.
Complete twelve hours of continuing education annually as required by APOST and other training as designated by administration.
Appear in court and testify as required.
Assist and participate in emergency training, drills, and exercises.
Monitor security cameras. Respond to fire alarms and advise the fire department when necessary.
Administer emergency first aid/CPR.
Open car doors, if possible, when keys have been locked inside.
Collect, document, maintain, and secure lost-and-found property.
Perform monthly inspections of fire extinguishers.
Lift, carry, and move heavy objects upon request within safety limits.
Serve as security for all required athletic events.
Qualifications
High School or GED Diploma; minimum of one year of full-time experience in policing, patrolling, or security; APOST certification; current Alabama driver’s license. Knowledge of traffic regulations and basic knowledge of security operations and procedures; Knowledge of first aid/CPR; and ability to obtain NCIC certification.
