United States Citizen
Certified in the State of Florida as a Law Enforcement Officer. A minimum of 54 accredited college credits

Substitutes:
Military Experience:
Three Years of active military service can substitute for the college credit requirement.
Police Experience:
Three Years of full-time law enforcement experience can substitute for the college credit requirement.

Police Officer Minimum Requirements NOTE:
The cost of the Equivalency of Training (EOT) course and the Florida Law Enforcement state exam is the applicant’s responsibility. STEP 2: ONLINE Be sure to answer each question fully. Incomplete applications may be disqualified. STEP 3:
ATTEND IN-PERSON MEETING
Applicants who meet the minimum requirements and police department standards will be scheduled for an in-person meeting.
During this meeting, applicants will complete paperwork and be provided with additional information about the final steps.
DURATION OF SELECTION PROCESS
Approximately 3 to 5 months.
REAPPLICATION PROCESS
Interviewed applicants may reapply one year from the date of their online application. Job Duties and Responsibilities Enforces laws and ordinances of the City, County and State. Performs traffic activities, makes arrests and bookings. Patrols an assigned area on foot or by vehicle. Performs patrol activities, to include pursuing and apprehending subjects, conducting felony stops, conducting teletype checks, controlling disorderly persons, transporting subjects and prisoners, searching for wanted persons, conducting dwelling and ground checks. Conducts investigations, to include crime scenes, deaths, abuse cases, domestic violence, traffic accidents, animal calls and non police action calls. Collects disposes and secures evidence. Writes reports and processes paperwork. Responds to rescue calls. Responds to emergency situations, to include controlling riots and directing evacuations. Performs first aid duties. Performs other related tasks as required.
