Police Officer (Certified) Hudson NH Police Department 1 Constitution Drive, Hudson, NH 03051 Company Overview The Hudson NH Police Department is a progressive law enforcement agency, CALEA Certified (7th Award) dedicated to the community we serve through a rigorous community policing and public safety programs. Summary Responsible for the performing of required law enforcement duties in conformance with the rules, regulations, and general orders of the Hudson Police Department. A Patrol Officer is responsible for the enforcement of federal statutes, state statutes, motor vehicle laws, local ordinances, and a variety of other tasks designed to preserve peace as well as order and at the same time protect lives and property within the town of Hudson. The Patrol Officer works under the general supervision of the Patrol Sergeant. Responsibilities 1. Patrols an assigned sector in a police vehicle. 2. Answers both routine and emergency calls for service. 3. Assists victims of crime as well as advises citizens and crime victims about crime prevention techniques and programs. 4. Enforces and serves court documents. 5. Enforces motor vehicle laws, criminal laws, and municipal ordinances. 6. Conducts preliminary and follow up investigations. 7. Responds to and investigates motor vehicle collisions. 8. Directs traffic to ensure a safe and efficient flow. 9. Makes physical custody arrests with or without a warrant. 10. Provides emergency first aid to ill and/or injured persons. 11. Preserves the peace at private and public gatherings, neighborhood disputes, and domestic calls for service. 12. Conducts security checks of businesses and vacant homes. 13. Prepares and submits such reports as may be necessary in the performance of their duties. 14. Testifies at court as well as at other administrative hearings. 15. Conducts crime scene searches and collects physical evidence. 16. Cleans, inspects, and maintains weapons, uniforms and equipment in a functional as well as presentable condition. In conjunction with this they also report any deficiencies and/or damages to their immediate supervisors. 17. Enforces parking regulations. 18. Transports detainees to the police station, the court, and/or other detention facilities. 19. Reviews reports and consults with a prosecutor prior to testifying in court. 20. Performs directed patrol assignments for motor vehicle enforcement, crime problems, town ordinance violations, and crime prevention measures. 21. Counsels both juveniles and their parents. 22. Assists troubled motorists. 23. Reports any hazardous road conditions to the proper authorities. 24. Takes precautions to avoid exposure to health hazards. 25. Place, guard, transfer and release detainees as required. 26. Assist fire/rescue personnel. 27. Perform service functions to include but not limited to; lockouts, directions, escorts, etc. 28. Identify and apprehend DWI Offenders. 29. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or his designee. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice is a plus (not required). Be a United States citizen. Be a minimum age of 21. Pass written and oral examinations; Pass extensive background and criminal history checks/investigations. Pass medical examination, psychological examination, physical fitness test, and polygraph examination. Posses or have the ability to obtain a valid NH motor vehicle operators license; Must meet all department and State of NH training and certification, to maintain certification.
