Job Description:
Campus Police Officers are directly accountable to the Chief of Police/Executive Director – Campus Safety & Security for the following duties and responsibilities: The individual filling this position is expected to provide law enforcement duties across the Northwest Florida State College Campus. Abide by the Oath of Office and Code of Ethics.
Patrol Campus buildings and grounds.
Enforce laws, rules, and regulations on campus.
Ensure timely communication with dispatch and supervisors.
Lock and unlock doors.
Report observed safety hazards.
Provide escort services on campus.
Establish public relations and provide general information.
Provide written reports on investigations, complaints, security incidents etc.
Collect, prepare, and document evidence for testifying in court.
As a part of the college’s risk management tool, annual mandatory compliance training is required.
Perform administrative and other police officer’s tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
Completion of a Florida Approved Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training program required.
Passing score on the Florida State Officer Certification Exam required.
Knowledge of current principles and practices of law enforcement.
Must pass background investigation, physical examination and drug testing.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Law Enforcement field experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
