JOB JOB SUMMARY
This is an entry-level trainee position for individuals seeking a career as a Police Officer with the Town of Lantana. Police Recruits are hired under the Town’s Police Recruit Scholarship Program, which provides financial support for tuition, uniforms, equipment, and books associated with the Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Academy. While attending the academy, Recruits are compensated hourly and receive benefits. Upon successful completion of the program and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) State Officer Certification Exam, the Recruit may be reclassified to a sworn Police Officer position with all applicable benefits under the Town’s current labor contract.
This is a temporary training position. Recruits who do not complete the program or fail to meet certification requirements will be released from employment. Additionally, those who do not fulfill a three-year full-time employment commitment following certification may be required to reimburse the Town for all associated training and equipment costs, per the terms of the Police Recruit Scholarship Agreement.

Attend and complete all required courses and practical training at an approved Florida Law Enforcement Academy.
Successfully pass the State Officer Certification Examination for law enforcement.
Maintain required attendance and academic standing at the training institution.
Follow all Town and academy rules, policies, and procedures.
Perform administrative or operational tasks within the Lantana Police Department when not in active academy training.
Participate in departmental and Town-mandated training programs.
Maintain professional behavior, discipline, and integrity as a representative of the Lantana Police Department.
May be required to assist in preparation, response, or recovery activities during declared Town emergencies.
