The main function of this position is to attend the Indian River State College Police Academy as a Contractual Non-Sworn Police Cadet in a professional manner under the direction of, the Chief of Police or their designee. This position shall abide by all obligations as outlined in the Sponsorship Program Agreement and Employee Contract. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are illustrative for this position. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Attends all scheduled classes lectures, demonstrations, and exercises and successfully completes all approved Law Enforcement Academy courses.
Trains on-the-job by performing routine work assignments in the functional area for which training is prescribed.
Perform other duties of similar nature or level in classroom setting. Does not engage in any disciplinary activities while attending the approved Law Enforcement Academy Satisfies all qualifications and requirements for employment by the City as a Police Officer. Shall be required to take, and pass, the State Certification Exam within thirty (30) days of completion of the Police Academy program or within the prescribed timeframe as determined at the discretion of the Division Captain.
Other duties may be assigned.
