POSITION SUMMARY
The Authority is currently recruiting a Police Officer to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Police Officer provides patrol coverage to the Georgia World Congress Center Authority campus and parking areas while increasing police visibility and public contact. Enforces state and local laws, and park ordinances in and around complex and patrol assigned areas. This position reports to the Police Sergeant.
ESSENTIAL

RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer calls and complaints. Complete written incident reports. Respond to emergency situations. Conduct investigations of criminal activities and taking appropriate action. Provide general police services to the public. Patrol, observe, and prevent criminal activity. Patrolling may include foot, bike, and/vehicle patrolling. Participate is special event activities on campus. Exercise crowd control and procedures. Traffic direction and pedestrian management. Completion of shift requirements as assigned by the Police Sergeant. Perform other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Police Sergeant. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and
ABILITIES
Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull extremely heavy objects over 200 pounds such as in the event of chasing or subduing a suspect resisting arrest. Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action on own initiative. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, other staff, and the public. Extensive knowledge of standard police practices and techniques. High degree of integrity and compliance. Self-awareness. Ability to demonstrate leadership to the assigned unit in the areas of motivation, positive influence, and personal challenge. Thoroughness in task approach, follow up and completion. Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work and training of subordinates. Knowledge of applicable local and state laws, and ordinances. Certification in good standing. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Valid Georgia Driver’s License.

Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, running, climbing, bending, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events. Law Enforcement work can be very dangerous and stressful. In addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, police officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number threatening situations. Officers frequently work weekends, holidays, and nights. Officers are expected to work at any time their services are needed and may work long hours standing post. Officers are expected to report for duty in full uniform with the appropriate and necessary equipment needed in the performance of their duty. All positions are required to work in inclement weather conditions if necessary. Tasks include but are limited to working around moving parts, vehicles, equipment, carts, and materials handling, where extremely heightened awareness to surroundings and environment is essential in the preservation of life and property. Standard body gear and equipment applies in the preservation of life and property, as does special equipment based on assignment including, but not limited to, various types of body armor and safety gear. Police officers are armed and are expected to exercise their legal authority appropriately whenever necessary. All police officers are required to work at any time their services are needed and may work long hours during arrests, investigations or special events. All positions are required to work in inclement weather conditions.
