Job Summary The Department of Criminal Justice/Public Safety Academy at the University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a full-time staff position on the Dahlonega campus. This position will support the Public Safety Academy and the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in POST. The workload may require some travel to conduct labs and training classes at other locations. We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as Training Academy Instructor. This role is ideal for someone passionate about law enforcement training and education, who thrives in both curricular and instructional environments. Responsibilities Facilitate, and participate in training dates, exams, and events related to the P.O.S.T academy, including marketing and advertising of the academy.
This includes training students in areas pertaining to the P.O.S.T. program, when certified to do so.
Help coordinate and facilitate P.O.S.T. academy graduations.
Assist with P.O.S.T. agency, lab, and grant accounts through the deposit of funds, payment of invoices, gathering quotes, and purchasing equipment.
Facilitate the purchasing and distribution of uniforms and equipment to academy students.
Purchase all items related to basic office needs within the academy.
Submit maintenance and IT requests to maintain office functionality.
Coordinate yearly inventory checks with Logistics.
Assist with Facilitating appointments, physical fitness exams, and psychological exams required for certification with P.O.S.T.
File applications required for certification and maintain all training files and paperwork with P.O.S.T.
Maintains P.O.S.T. certification via state mandated yearly training and attends any training certification or conference courses, implementing current and emerging training and teaching law enforcement officers for the benefit of
UNG P.O.S.T.
students and prospective law enforcement agencies. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities The individual must have strong verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills.
Have an ability to teach courses in all areas of the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council Basic Mandate Course.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a closely related field is required.
If not currently certified as a Georgia P.O.S.T.
Instructor, the selected candidate must successfully complete the UNG Public Safety Academy Instructor School within the first six (6) months of employment and later a firearms instructor school and others recommended by the Public Safety Academy director.
Must be a certified Police Officer and Certified P.O.S.T. Instructor. Proposed Salary The proposed salary for this position is $22.79-$25.07 hourly rate. Required Documents to Attach Resume
