Job Summary:
Under the direction of a Sergeant, or other ranking officer, a Corporal will act as a Lead Officer in field situations; may be responsible for limited, temporary oversight functions in various assignments; may be required to work special assignments and duties; will be required to work shift work as related to assignment or duty; and provide direction and leadership to officers performing patrol functions. Monitors subordinates effectively and directs their activities as needed to insure they provide quality customer service including established service recovery activities, at all times to patients, families, visitors, and employees. Provides training and coaching to subordinates to develop their ability to perform their jobs and achieve expected results. Provides for a customer/guest-oriented management of the Hospital environment for overall assurance of public safety. Performs general public safety, law enforcement duties and investigation in the protection of life and property. Responsible for prevention of crimes, apprehension of criminals and enforcement of all applicable policies, rules, and regulations of Forrest General Hospital and applicable federal, state, and local laws to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Performance Expectations:
Stays alert and enforces all federal, state, and local laws as well as FGH policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all patients/families, staff, other guests, and the property of the facility at all times. Consistently documents all incidents and accidents utilizing approved reports to maintain accurate records for purposes of presenting evidence and shielding the hospital from potential legal action. Consistently treats staff members as valued customers by responding to their requests with urgency and accuracy. Monitors subordinates effectively and directs their activities as needed to ensure they provide quality customer service including established service recovery activities, at all times to patients, families, visitors, and employees. Provides on-the-job training and coaching to subordinates to develop their ability to perform their jobs and achieve expected results.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills One year required, but one- and one-half years is preferred, experience as a Police Officer with the Forrest General Hospital Police Department, provided that the officer has no disciplinary action involving suspension within a twelve (12) month period prior to the test date required. Ten (10) or more years of experience in law enforcement outside of Forrest General may substitute for one (1) year experience with the Forrest General Hospital Police Department.
Work Experience:
Five (5) years or more experience with law enforcement desired. Extensive related work experience in a related field may substitute for law enforcement experience. Certification/Licensure-DUE
UPON HIRE
Valid Drivers License Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Standards and Training Law Enforcement Certification.
