Job Description
Police Officer City of Uniontown 45 E Penn St, Uniontown, PA 15401 Qualified Persons are invited to apply to the City of Uniontown Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibly for appointment as a Full-Time Patrolman for the Uniontown Police Department.
General Requirements:
Candidates at the time of the application must: (1) Posses a diploma from an accredited high school or graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Be Act 120 Certified under Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Act (Act 120), or shall have successfully completed Act 120 Training and successfully passed the final exam, or shall be enrolled in Municipal Police Academy (Act 120)(
NOTE:
Upon completion of the testing and background process, the list of eligible candidates will be certified. At that time applicants must certified through Act 120 to be included in the list of three eligible candidates which will be presented to council. Should an applicant not be certified thought Act 120 they may remain on the list but be ineligible for appointment. Once Act 120 certification is obtained the candidate may then take their place on the list and be eligible for future appointments); (3) Be a United States Citizen (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties if a police officer (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; (6) Posses valid motor vehicle license. Currently there is no residency requirement to be a police officer in the City of Uniontown. Successful applicant must also meet all the requirements of the City’s Civil Service Rules and Regulations that will include a background investigation, and if selected, be required to successfully pass a physical and psychological examination. Starting salary during the probationary period is $26.44 per hour. Benefits include dental, vision, medical and retirement. Officers after one year of service also receive (15) sick days, (10) vacation days, (7) personal days. Officers may retire after 20 years of service with no age restriction. A completed application must be filled before 4PM on July 11, 2025. Testing for the applicates will take place on one single date to be announced. The physical agility test consists if a 300 meter run, sit-ups, and push ups, which are based off the Cooper Standard 30th percentile for your age and biological gender.
