This is a part-time (up to 25 hours per week) position.

SCOPE OF WORK

Performs general safety and security functions associated with patrolling, inspecting, and securing buildings and grounds, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to alarms and incidents, assisting the community and public, maintaining records, and assists with training and guiding new officers. This position reports to the Director of Campus Safety at Nashua Community College.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Patrols and monitors college property to provide for the safety and welfare of students, faculty, staff and property.
Enforces State and Federal law pertaining to all individuals on college property, reporting of crimes occurring on campus grounds to the appropriate Law Enforcement Agencies.
Enforces college rules and regulations pertaining to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while on college property.
Investigates all criminal activity that occurs on college property for referral as appropriate to Law Enforcement agencies.
Prepares written reports such as daily logs and incident reports relating to security and safety matters and compliance with the Clery Act.
Implements the campus Emergency Operations Plan in cases of emergency; activates campus emergency notification systems.
Responds to burglar and fire alarm calls on NCC property to determine cause.
Utilizes card access, video, and other software programs in conjunction with daily responsibilities.
Produce and maintain identification and parking permit cards for students, employees, and guests.
Serves students, faculty and staff whenever practicable to provide for their safety and welfare.
Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

High school diploma or high school equivalency. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience:

Three years’ experience in law enforcement work as a security guard/officer, police officer, corrections officer, or military police officer.

License/Certification:

Valid NH driver’s license required. Current CPR/AED and basic first aid certification.

Special Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS

Knowledge of law enforcement work and arrest procedures. Skill in dealing with offenders of the rules and regulations established for the control of pilfering and damage to college owned property. Ability to enforce laws in accordance with standard procedure to control pilfering and damage to college property. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to work with people and secure their cooperation without the use of violence. Ability to perform investigations, question witnesses and prepare written reports. Ability to use judgment when using force to control individuals or groups. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with employees, residents, other law enforcement agencies and the general public. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
