Police OfficerThe City of Sherrill Police Department is currently accepting Lateral Transfer/Certified Police Officer applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Must be a New York State Certified Police Officer and meet all requirements under Section 58 of NYS Civil Service Law Current certification through DCJS as a police office r
• Must possess a valid New York State driver’s license
• Must have a high school diploma or GED (higher education preferred Must be at least 21 years of age Must be of good moral character and able to pass a thorough background investigation

Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform general police duties including patrol, traffic enforcement, and responding to calls for service Protect life and property, prevent crime, and maintain public order Prepare written reports, issue citations, and provide courtroom testimony Engage in community policing efforts and promote positive public relations Work independently and professionally with minimal supervision

Ideal Candidate Will:

Be community-focused and professional in demeanor Possess excellent judgment, integrity, and communication skills Demonstrate knowledge of local, state, and federal laws Have the ability to de-escalate situations and act calmly under pressure
