What You’ll Be Doing The Fiduciary Officer supports the acceptance of accounts and provides legal support to the Marketing Department, Administration Department, Investment Department and management of Stifel Trust Companies {STC}. In coordination with Senior Trust Officers, this position will have responsibility for STC regulatory issues. The Fiduciary Officer will provide complex legal advice concerning trust matters. What We’re Looking For
Review, understand and interpret language in contracts that involve STC while limiting fiduciary, regulatory and legal risks.
Review client accounts for any issues prior to acceptance.
Participate in intake functions, triage incoming and pending matters, verify the identity of customers and control persons, and complete BSA/AML risk ratings.
Review real estate transactions for current fiduciary accounts.
Interprets laws, rulings and regulations involving Stifel Trust business.
Provide legal support for Marketing, Administration, Investments, and management of STC.
Maintain state law summaries and beneficiary notification requirements.
Oversee litigation involving STC, coordinating with Stifel’s Legal department and Chief Fiduciary Officer.
Coordinate response to subpoenas.
Advise financial advisors on complex client trust matters.
Perform ongoing research to ensure compliance with applicable fiduciary state and federal statutes and regulations
What You’ll Bring
Solid knowledge of trust administration principles.
Advanced knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules. Effective communication skills and able to relay information well in both written and verbal form.
Strong knowledge of the financial service industry including Federal and State chartered banks, trust companies and securities broker/dealers.
Strong knowledge of the products and services available in the investment industry as well as the methods, processes and staff of Stifel.
Solid and reliable mathematical skills.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify complex problems; review related information and develop options and implement solutions.
Education & Experience

Minimum Required:

Juris Doctor degree

3+ years’ working with fiduciary accounts
