06/27/2025 Total Compensation Estimator Tool General Description The Eighth Judicial Circuit is seeking to fill a judicial staff attorney position in Gainesville, Florida. The successful applicant will join a team of experienced staff attorneys responsible for drafting memoranda, opinions, orders and reports; conducting legal research; reviewing briefs and case files; and advising judges on pending litigation and legal issues. The position provides assistance in various areas of the law, to include: criminal, probate and guardianship, family, and civil. Assignments will be based on the needs of the circuit. This position may require travel to any of the counties within the Eighth Judicial Circuit, which include Baker, Bradford, Gilchrist, Levy, and Union. Education and Qualifications Graduation from an accredited law school Membership in the Florida Bar (or awaiting membership). Membership in the Florida Bar is required within one year of hire Possess excellent research, writing, proofreading and communication skills Ability to reason logically and analytically, to grasp, comprehend, and analyze complex legal issues and complicated factual details Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills and be able to effectively prioritize pending assignments Work independently as well as collaboratively to ensure tasks are completed Discretion, honesty and confidentiality in handling matters before the court are essential Salary and Benefits Salary is $63,724.95/annually; 10% less if not a member of The Florida Bar.
