Legal Services / Intellectual Property Law A well-established boutique law firm specializing in Intellectual Property, headquartered in downtown Tampa, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal with experience in copyrights, trademarks, and patent law. The firm represents a diverse portfolio of national and international clients in protecting and managing their intellectual assets. The Intellectual Property Paralegal will provide direct support to attorneys in all aspects of IP law, including preparation and filing of applications, docket management, research, and client communication. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of IP law experience, with a strong understanding of USPTO and international filing procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge of Trademark & Copyright practices. Prepare and file U.S. and foreign trademark and copyright applications. Conduct preliminary trademark searches using USPTO and WIPO databases. Maintain and manage IP docket/calendar for deadlines, renewals, and office actions. Monitor and handle prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement activities. Draft cease and desist letters, licensing agreements, and assignments. Support U.S. and international patent prosecution, including filings with the USPTO and PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) offices. File Information Disclosure Statements (IDS), responses to Office Actions, and assignments. Liaise with clients, foreign associates, and government agencies for patent-related matters. Experienced with iManage software and/or familiar with IP management systems. Prepare and edit legal correspondence and IP-related documents. Organize and manage physical and digital IP portfolios. Assist with client intake, billing, and matter management.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred but not required. Minimum 3 years of experience in an IP law firm or corporate legal department. Strong working knowledge of USPTO procedures, TEAS and EFS-Web filing systems. Familiarity with international IP procedures (e.g., WIPO, Madrid Protocol, PCT). Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills. Experience using IP docketing platforms like iManage software. Experience with IP litigation support is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary:
$80,000
