Assistant General Counsel Florida State Board of Administration – 4.1 Tallahassee, FL Job Details Full-time $141,400 – $176,700 a year 21 hours ago Qualifications Law Doctoral degree General counsel 5 years Master’s degree Doctor of Law Litigation Bachelor’s degree Senior level Associate’s degree Communication skills Full Job Description Responsibilities The Assistant General Counsel is responsible for assisting the General Counsel & Chief Ethics Officer (General Counsel) in providing in-house legal services to the State Board of Administration (SBA). The Assistant General Counsel reports to the Deputy General Counsel – Investments. Prepares, reviews, and negotiates contracts for the SBA Prepares, drafts, reviews, revises, and negotiates SBA contracts and other related documents required by the SBA to perform its duties and responsibilities Provides legal consultation to SBA staff Provides legal advice, in consultation with the General Counsel, and support to the Executive Director and staff of the SBA Provides legal support and performs legal research to advance the legal function of the SBA Represents the SBA in various forums, as requested by the General Counsel Conducts legal research and writing on various legal topics Reviews and provides advice on legislation and regulations affecting the SBA and SBA policies Participates and provides legal support on SBA special projects, as requested by the General Counsel Assists the General Counsel in monitoring and oversight of external legal counsel Provides oversight and support for public records requests Provides attorney support and feedback in assisting Paralegals with coordinating responses to public records and other document requests Assists in oversight of SBA litigation Assists the General Counsel with providing coordination, oversight, and support in SBA litigation and proceedings Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Five years of related experience. Admission to the Florida Bar as a member in good standing. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience; 2 years for an associate’s degree, 4 years for a bachelor’s degree, 6 years for a master’s degree, 7 years for a professional degree, or 9 years for a doctoral degree.
Preferences:
A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college or university
