Bankruptcy Full Job Description Job Summary:
Michael H. Moody Law, P.A., a prominent Tallahassee-based law firm specializing in personal bankruptcy (Chapter 7), complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy, estate planning, and litigation, is seeking a highly organized and empathetic Paralegal to support our diverse practice. You will manage case files, prepare bankruptcy petitions using Jubilee bankruptcy software, draft estate planning documents, and assist with litigation tasks, ensuring compliance with court requirements. Exceptional communication skills are essential for coordinating with clients and court personnel, while professionalism is critical in our fast-paced environment handling sophisticated legal matters. Responsibilities:
Prepare Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and statements (e.g., Form
B101, B106, B107
for Chapter 7; Form
B201, B206
for Chapter 11) using Jubilee bankruptcy software, ensuring accurate data input for seamless form generation. Collect and organize client documents (e.g., financial records, business contracts, litigation filings) with meticulous attention to detail. Coordinate with clients to complete credit counseling and debtor education courses for bankruptcy cases, communicating deadlines clearly and empathetically. Draft estate planning documents (e.g., wills, trusts, powers of attorney) in accordance with state laws. Assist with litigation tasks, such as preparing discovery responses, motions, or exhibit lists, under attorney supervision. Monitor payment plan progress for Chapter 7 clients and notify attorney when cases are ready to file. Communicate with bankruptcy trustees, court clerks, and opposing counsel professionally. Maintain case files in compliance with United States Trustee Program (USTP) and court rules for bankruptcy and litigation matters.
Qualifications:
2+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in bankruptcy, estate planning, or litigation. Familiarity with Bankruptcy Code (Chapters 7 and 11), court filing procedures, and Jubilee bankruptcy software (or similar tools). Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for client interactions, court correspondence, and litigation support. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines across Chapter 7, Chapter 11, estate planning, and litigation without errors. Proven professionalism and integrity, with a commitment to ethical conduct and client confidentiality. Proficient with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and litigation software (e.g., CaseMap, Relativity, if applicable). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment handling complex legal matters.
