We are committed to excellence, client-focused service, and professional integrity. We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney to join our team and lead the firm’s bankruptcy practice. This position is ideal for a self-motivated attorney looking to grow a bankruptcy department within an established, multi-practice law firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and handle Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters from consultation through discharge or dismissal. Prepare, review, and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, and plans. Appear at §341 meetings, confirmation hearings, and related court proceedings. Counsel clients on financial options, creditor negotiations, and asset protection strategies. Maintain compliance with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Develop internal processes and support staff workflows for bankruptcy filings. Collaborate with the litigation, probate, and family law teams when bankruptcy overlaps with other legal issues (e.g., property division, collections, asset disputes).
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school. Active member of The Florida Bar and admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and/or Middle Districts of Florida. Minimum 2-5 years of direct experience in consumer bankruptcy law. Strong knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, Florida exemptions, and the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA). Excellent legal writing, negotiation, and client counseling skills. Familiarity with bankruptcy software (Best Case, CINcompass, or similar) and case management systems (Clio preferred). Not Required:
Experience in Chapter 11 or Subchapter V bankruptcy. Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole). Background in foreclosure defense, debt settlement, or creditor representation.
