Position Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Deed Attorney to join our real estate and surplus funds division. This attorney will be responsible for reviewing title and court documents and issuing legal opinions on entitlement to surplus proceeds remaining after tax deed sales. The ideal candidate will bring experience in title review, closing transactions, and/or plaintiff-side foreclosure work.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed title examinations and analyze public records related to tax deed properties. Draft and issue legal opinions on entitlement to tax deed surplus funds under Florida law. Review and interpret relevant case law, statutes, and title policies. Assist in litigation matters involving surplus fund entitlement disputes. Communicate with clients, claimants, title companies, and court personnel. Maintain accurate documentation and file management within the firm’s case management system. Provide strategic guidance on complex title and surplus issues. Collaborate with support staff, paralegals, and other attorneys to ensure thorough and efficient file progression.

Preferred Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and member in good standing with The Florida Bar. 3+ years of experience in real estate law, title review, foreclosure, or closings. Knowledge of Florida tax deed laws and surplus procedures strongly preferred. Experience drafting title opinions and understanding encumbrance priority. Litigation experience related to real property or foreclosure is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
