Job Summary:

As an Appellate Immigration Attorney at GFI, you will play a crucial role in our ongoing mission to protect and empower clients seeking legal status in the United States. This position involves handling complex legal procedures, including motions, Requests for Evidence (RFEs), appeals, and crafting innovative legal strategies. Your work will be pivotal in ensuring that each client receives dedicated support and that our commitment to justice and superior client service is upheld.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and analyze denial decisions, developing strategic responses for appeals. Collaborate with team members to coordinate legal strategies and case management. Prepare and oversee various case filings, ensuring adherence to deadlines. Perform attorney-level review and edits of submissions to USCIS. Conduct in-depth legal research to address unique case challenges. Draft and prepare briefs for RFEs, motions to reconsider or reopen, and appeals. Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting immigration law. Devise solutions to complex legal issues and guide team members in a collaborative, supportive environment. Handle additional responsibilities as required to support our mission.

Requirements and Skills:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active Bar license in good standing in any U.S. state. 2-5 years of experience in immigration law, particularly in areas such as family and humanitarian-based petitions, asylum, removal defense, immigration, and appellate proceedings. Ability to work flexibly, adapting to varying schedules as needed. Strong communication skills and proficiency in reading and writing English. Spanish fluency is not required but preferred.
